Mexican wolves, bears and cougars in greater peril after today's tumultuous Game & Fish Meeting in New Mexico
Today Bold Visions Conservation, along with several other conservation groups spent the day listening, commenting and coming to understand the reality that state Game and Fish Departments do not give a damn about wildlife.
For more than six hours, we listened to false and highly subjective reports from their biologist about why more bears and cougars need to be killed. We watched the incompetence of the commission on full display as they asked poor questions and continued to push to create fear around wolves and a need for more wildlife killing.
In the end, the commission continues to block efforts to reintroduce wolves, and passed rules that expand bear killing, and trapping and killing of cougars.
In the end the audience of more than 200 chanted “Shame! Shame on you!” after the commissioners voted to expand the slaughter.
Wildlife deserves to live free and wild; in New Mexico today, many were handed a death sentence. We must stop the madness today!
Work on our film designed to educate the public about the horrors of state Game and Fish Commissions continues! Please help us change business as usual and give to our efforts. Also take a moment to let our Governor, Susanna Martinez, who hand-picked this current commission; let them know that the killing must stop!
Today we interviewed Dave Parsons, who led the US Fish & Wildlife Service Mexican Wolf Reintroduction Program. Click below to enjoy ‘A Minute with Dave,” whose commentary will be featured in our documentary.
